MATIMEX AWARDS | MATIMEX AWARDS CEREMONY

Our Director Rubén Muedra was the protagonist at the PIAM 2022 Awards Ceremony organised by the prestigious company Matimex. He was part of the Jury and later presented the award to the winners.

Matimex presented on Wednesday 6th July at its facilities in Almazora (Castellón) the awards of the 8th edition PIAM (International Architecture Award Matimex) whose theme was “The single-family house. The future is today”.

After the words of the general director of Matimex, Juan-Luis Grafulla, the awards ceremony began.

Gemma Vidal, architect and head of PIAM, initially highlighted the two projects that fell just short of being worthy of a prize and whose works were also exhibited in the showroom along with the winners. Mentions were awarded to:

“CASA SUBTERRA: LA VIVIENDA COMO ALEGORÍA DEL PAISAJE” carried out by: Víctor Hugo Vásquez Ruiz and “NOMADÉ” made by Andrés Cárdenas Haro.

Afterwards, the members of the jury presented the prizes to the different winners.

Rubén Muedra Ortiz, founder of Rubén Muedra Estudio de Arquitectura, awarded a runner-up prize to:

“EXODUS. IN TRANSFORMATION” by Javier de Sola Caraballo, Jorge Rodríguez Pérez and Javier Sabido Royón.

The next runner-up was “HABITAR EL ENTORNO. HOUSING IN THE COSTA BRAVA” by Mauro Viola was presented by Ramón Carneros, commercial director of Matimex. The runners-up prizes were endowed with €500 each.

The second prize of €1,000 was awarded by João de Sousa Rodolfo, architect of Traçado Regulador to:

“E2M2” by Elena Robles Alonso and Elena Cabanes.

Finally, the first and most coveted prize of €3,000 was awarded by Juan-Luis Grafulla to:

“SUNSET AT THE TREETOPS” designed by La Reina Obrera Arquitectura e Interiorismo.

Under the slogan “An opportunity for you. An opportunity for them. Opening ways for the future” Matimex gave a donation to the NGO Amigos de Nyumbani for each of the projects presented. After receiving the cheque, Amor Sola, president of the association, explained in detail how the donation will be allocated through the Microcredit programme.

To conclude, Juan-Luis Grafulla dedicated a few words of thanks to all those present for making PIAM continue with the same enthusiasm and for making it better known year after year.
