AWARD

Vertical House receives the German Design Award 2025 in the Excellent Architecture category, one of the most internationally recognised design distinctions, awarded by the German Design Council.

The German Design Award, presented by the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung), recognises outstanding architecture and design projects worldwide each year. In its 2025 edition, Vertical House —a single-family home by the studio in Algemesí, Valencia— was distinguished as a Winner in the Excellent Architecture category.

The house arises from two white-concrete prismatic volumes of different size and height, displaced from one another to follow the direction of the plot. That gesture creates distinct outdoor areas and improves the relationship between the interior and the garden. The façade planes, largely closed along their longitudinal direction, open to the outside through vertical incisions that filter light and wind while providing privacy from the neighbouring plots.

The jury announced its decision in October 2024 and the distinction was presented at the ceremony held in Frankfurt on 6 February 2025. The recognition places the work of the studio within an international benchmark and confirms an approach to design attentive to the reading of place, constructive precision and an essential result.
