RUBEN MUEDRA ARCHITECTURE STUDIO IN THE METAVERSE
RUBÉN MUEDRA ESTUDIO DE ARQUITECTURA bets on Disruptive Innovation. The Metaverse is the environment where much of the architectural action and innovation will occur in the coming period. The irruption is supported by the revolution of communication infrastructures.
For Rubén Muedra, the Metaverse is the environment where much of the architectural action and innovation will take place in the coming period. Although there are already MMOs (massively multiplayer online games) designed by video game developers and artists belonging to the entertainment industry, the participation of architects in the design of new virtual interaction spaces will be necessary and essential.
In no case does the metaverse come to replace physical interaction between humans, or to limit personal relationships, or even to facilitate social control. Its purpose is precisely the opposite, it is to complement them, it is to eliminate barriers and increase social freedom, facilitating highly realistic immersive relationships between people.
These are virtual interaction spaces that will now invite and frame all domains of human interaction: knowledge exchange, professional collaboration, cultural communication, art, education, health, commercial, etc.
But let’s not forget, we will never completely move away from real physical architecture, as long as we have bodies. Moreover, there will never be a total virtual replacement, even of all physically embodied social communications. There will be omnichannel, they will be coexistent. However, no domain will be left out of these new opportunities, and no physical space will be left without virtual competition and potential substitution.
The irruption of the metaverse is supported by the revolution of communication infrastructures (their data transfer and processing speed), calculated by 3D Engines and Edge Computing; and brought to the user by means of human interface devices such as Virtual Reality Glasses or SmartGlasses.
These three layers, located at the base of the technological development that surrounds the metaverse, allow the architect to work on the design of hyper-realistic spaces where materiality, textures, or lighting, among others, are as relevant and perceptible as they are in a built architecture.
RUBÉN MUEDRA ESTUDIO DE ARQUITECTURA is committed to Disruptive Innovation. The Metaverse is the environment where much of the architectural action and innovation will take place in the coming period. The irruption is based on the revolution of communication infrastructures.

Virtual architecture in the metaverse is free of constraints such as physics, material properties and construction costs. From this starting point, it is the architect’s creativity, applied to the project, that solves the needs of the users in each of the proposed projects.
